Wedding makeup
Congratulations on your engagement! Venue, catering, guestlist… check. Now you’re looking for the right bridal makeup artist to help make you feel & look your very best on your big day. You’ve come to the right place!
Makeup TrialS
A trial is essential for every bride & should not be underestimated as part of the process. You have rehearsals for the wedding & try on the dress more than once to make sure it’s just right & that should be the same with a makeup trial.
This will be carried out during the day at my home studio because daylight is the truest reflection of how your makeup will look. It’s an opportunity for us to have an in-depth consultation to discuss ideas & get to know you better so that I can help you create a look that reflects who you are & what you are looking for. My goal is for you to feel relaxed so that you can be open & honest until we achieve your vision. Once you are happy with your final look, I will take detailed notes & photos so that I can replicate this on your big day. We also use this time to chat through pre-wedding skincare prep, discuss further details & the timeline of the day to understand how much time is needed to prep your bride squad. It’s also a great chance for you to get to know me, as your bridal makeup artist will be a big part of your day.
Every bride wants to feel beautiful on their wedding day, so by knowing exactly how the day will go & how you will look will give you security & confidence for the day!
Trials should be at least 8 weeks before the big day & lasts around 2hrs. It’s advisable to have no more than 1 other person attend your trial.
Your WEdding day
I know how important it is for you to feel relaxed on your wedding day, so I will allow plenty of time to travel to you at your venue, arriving early to set up and create a relaxing wedding day service.
Scheduling ample prep time for makeup & hair will allow for a smooth start to your big day so you’ll feel relaxed & arrive at the ceremony ready to go. You’ll need to allow around 60-90mins for the bridal makeup & 30-45mins for each of your bride tribe & mother of the bride/groom. I will discuss with your hair stylist beforehand to sync up our work agreeing on the best order for you & your bridal party. Before the big day, I will send you timings of my arrival time & a makeup schedule for everyone so that we can keep a track of time.
Typically makeup for the bride will be done 2nd to last so that your makeup will be freshest & to allow for those extra special & emotional moments after you’ve put your dress on. I’ll be there to do the final checks & touch ups before you leave for the ceremony to say I do!
Once I’ve finished with the makeup, I will also be there to help everyone get ready & leave on time… whether it’s helping you get into your wedding dress, top up the bubbly or just keeping you calm!
FAQs
+ How do I make a booking?
Please fill out the enquiry form with your details & requirements & I will get back to you within 48hrs on my availability. If you are happy to proceed, a booking fee is required to secure your event date which will be deducted from the final amount.
+ Do I need to prepare anything for the wedding makeup trial?
Yes! If you can bring with you a few photos on your phone that you like the look of to the trial, we can use this an inspiration guide. Please also try to wear a white/cream top that's a similar colour to your wedding dress so that we can see how it all ties in. If you plan to have a spray tan or semi-permanent lashes on your wedding day, it is advisable to come along to the trial the same as you would on your big day.
+ What are the benefits of having a separate wedding hair & makeup artist?
Having a specialist in each area means that they solely focus on their expertise. It's a time saver especially when you have multiple people in your bride squad requiring hair & makeup. We can work together simultaneously swapping between everyone... like a conveyor belt! If there are several people needing hair & makeup, an assistant will be required anyway so you'll still get 2 people.
+ Does everyone in the bridal party need a trial?
Only the bride will need a wedding makeup trial. However, if anybody in your bridal party would also like a trial, then yes they can certainly have a trial. It's advisable to have no more than 1 other person attend your trial with you. So if there's more than 1, then they can book in separately.
+ Why does Bridal Makeup cost more than occasion makeup?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions for all bridal makeup artists. This is a bit higher than standard occasion makeup because it is a premium service. The makeup is done in a way that has to look good both in natural & artifical lighting, in person, on photos & in videos, and be long lasting. The increase is also a reflection of the additional time spent on makeup, travel, admin & communications leading up to the day, insurance & kit costs.
+ Are lashes included & do I have to have them?
Yes they are included! I always highly recommend the application of individual and/or strip lashes (depending on your eye shape). Some brides are not used to lashes however, it dramatically changes the effect of the look to make it more glamourous especially in photography or videos. The way it is applied & the lashes used means it's very lightweight & you shouldn't feel them.
You may also have have semi-permanent lashes which are also fine but after the wedding makeup trial, I can recommend how your lashes should be placed so you can take this to your lash technician to compliment the look.
+ How soon should I book for wedding makeup?
Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays are the most popular days especially during the Summer. I would recommend booking early to get the date of your choice. I take bookings as far ahead as 18 months in advance.
+ Can you stay for the evening if I would like a refresh or change in makeup?
Yes evening services are also available. If this is something you maybe interested in, please let me know at the time of booking in & I can discuss this with you.
